The Millikin baseball team opened play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) losing to Augustana College 5-2 on March 28 in Rock Island, Illinois.
The game was 2-2 in the fifth inning when the Vikings scored two runs to pull ahead. Millikin scored one run in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by
Jake Drada. The Big Blue's second run came in the fifth inning.
Anthony Bryan doubled and scored on a
Seth Coffey base hit.
Mason Bruce was 2-3 for the Big Blue.
The Vikings offense was led by Carter Amundsen who went 2-4 with two RBIs. Zach Morgenstern was the winning pitcher throwing nine innings allowing two runs.
Millikin had its eight game winning streak stopped with the loss. The winning streak was the longest in school history since 1946. Millikin is now 11-4, 0-1. Augustana improves to 15-2, 1-0.
Millikin will host Wheaton College in the three game series on March 31 to April 1 starting with a single game on Friday at 6 p.m.
