Big Blue Softball Sweeps Illinois College

          The Millikin softball team remained unbeaten at its new home, the Workman Family Softball Field, sweeping a doubleheader from Illinois College on March 27 in Decatur, Illinois.  Millikin won two games against MacMurray College on Sunday to open the new facility.
          Millikin won game one 4-2.  The contest was scoreless until the sixth inning.  Illinois College took a 2-0 lead in the top of the inning when Frankie Sikora hit a two-run homer becoming the first player to hit a homerun at Workman Family Softball Field.
          Millikin answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn the victory.  Alexis Dockins and Nicole Koch had two run singles to drive home the Millikin runs.  Koch finished the game 2-3.  Centerfielder Kailey Lyons was 3-4 for the Big Blue.
          Cathy Lebryk earned the pitching win for Millikin throwing seven innings allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out eight.
          The Big Blue won game two 4-3.  Each team scored unearned runs in the first inning on sacrifice flies.  Shelby Koehler picked up the RBI for the Lady Blues and Alyssa Voegele had the RBI for Millikin.
          Illinois College took the lead in the top of the seventh scoring twice.  Mikayla Greenwood had a two run single to drive home the Illinois College runs.
          Millikin rallied with three in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the victory.  The Big Blue tied the game when two runs scored on an Illinois College error.  Chelsea Eads had the walk off hit for Millikin with an RBI double scoring pinch runner Alyssa White.  Kalli Famer and Eads each had two hits in the game.
          Gracie Brookens started pitching for Millikin and threw well allowing three hits and two unearned runs in six innings.  Koch earned the victory in relief.
          Millikin is now 13-7 on the season while Illinois College goes to 6-6.
          The Big Blue will play for a third straight day on Tuesday, March 28 when they travel to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.
