Big Blue Softball Sweeps Augustana-Home Winning Streak at 12

          The Millikin softball team swept a doubleheader from Augustana College on April 15 to improve its winning streak in its new home, Workman Family Softball Field, to 12-0 on the year.  Millikin won game one 3-1 and took the second game 5-1.
          In game one, the Vikings jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second inning on a run scoring single by Alyssa Klahn.
          Millikin took the lead with a two run fourth inning.   Alyssa White had a RBI double and Kailey Lyons had a run scoring single to get the Big Blue on the board.  Millikin scored its final run in the sixth on an RBI groundout from Lyons.
          Lyons and Marissa Padilla were each 2-4 for the Big Blue with Alexis Dockins going 2-3 in the game.  Cathy Lebryk was the winning pitcher throwing seven innings allowing five hits and no earned runs with one strikeout.  Lebryk is now 12-3 on the season.
          Shelby Grandt had two hits in game one for Augustana.
          In game two, Millikin scored one run in the third and two more in the fourth to jump ahead 3-0.  The Big Blue added two insurance runs in the seventh.  White was 2-3 with a double.  Brooke Heimerl had a runs scoring double for Millikin.  Dockins and Nicole Koch also had RBIs for Millikin.  Gracie Brookens was the winning pitcher throwing seven innings allowing four hits and no earned runs while striking out three.
          Lauren Severson doubled for the Vikings and scored Augustana's lone run.
          Millikin is now 25-9 overall and 11-1 and in first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.  Carthage College in 9-1 in CCIW play.
          Augustana goes to 7-17, 1-7.
          Millikin heads into the final week of the regular season.  The Big Blue will play its final regular season home game on April 20 against Greenville College.  Millikin then travels to Carroll College on April 22 and Carthage College on April 23.
