Sweep of Greenville Gives Millikin Softball Undefeated Home Season

          The Millikin softball team finished the 2017 regular season 14-0 in its new home, the Workman Family Softball Field, after sweeping Greenville College on April 20 in Decatur, Illinois.  Millikin won game one 4-1 and took the nightcap 7-0.
          Millikin got all the runs it would need in the first inning of game one.  Kailey Lyons used her speed to beat out a bunt to start the game and when the errant throw to first went all the way to the right field corner Lyons raced around the bases to score.  Alyssa Voegele doubled home Millikin's second run and Kalli Famer's run scoring single made it 3-0.  Voegele would have another RBI double in the fifth inning to drive home Millikin's final run.
          Cathy Lebryk picked up her 13th win of the season allowing three hits and one run in seven innings. 
          Kate Jolliff was 2-3 for Greenville and Becca Oldham driving home the Panther run with a sacrifice fly.
          Millikin would again score early in game two with two runs in the first and three in the second.  Gracie Brookens picked up the win throwing seven innings allowing only two hits and no runs with six strikeouts.  Senior Marissa Padilla we 3-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.  Voegele went 2-3 with three RBIs.  Alexis Dockins and senior Nicole Koch each had two hits for Millikin.
          Millikin is now 27-9 overall while Greenville goes to 15-12.
          Millikin will travel to Wisconsin to finish off the regular season playing at Carroll College on April 22 and traveling to Carthage College on Sunday, April 23.  Millikin and Carthage are currently tied for first place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) with 11-1 records.  Millikin needs one victory during its final four games to secure a spot in the CCIW Tournament.
