Millikin Baseball Sweeps First Place Titans

         The Millikin baseball team swept a doubleheader at conference leader Illinois Wesleyan on Friday, April 28 in Bloomington, Illinois.  The games were moved from Saturday afternoon to Friday night to avoid Saturday's anticipated storms.  Millikin won game one 9-0 and took the nightcap 11-6.
         Senior Max Paolicchi's complete game shutout lifted the Big Blue to the first game victory.  Paolicchi threw nine innings allowing only five hits and one walk while striking out six.
         Millikin's offensive outburst included a five run fourth inning.  Keith Askins and Seth Coffey each had two run singles in the fourth inning.  Jake Drada was 3-6 for the Big Blue with one RBI.  Mason Bruce, Julian Gutierrez, Hunter Wenstrom and Anthony Bryan each had two hits for Millikin.  Devin Crews had a RBI single to start the Millikin scoring in the second.  Andrew Huss doubled with two runs scored and one RBI.  Gutierrez also had a run batted in.
         John Bosco was 2-3 in game one for the Titans.
         Millikin jumped out to an early 9-1 advantage in game two after scoring eight runs in the second inning.  Drada got the Big Blue on the board in the first inning with an RBI single.  Devin Crews opened the scoring in the second inning with a two run triple.  Bruce and Drada then each followed with two run homeruns.  Bryan drove home two in the second inning with a single.
         Bruce was 5-5 in the game with four RBIs.  Crews was 3-5 with four runs scored.  Bryan finished 3-5 with RBIs.
         Logan Talkington was the winning pitcher going to 6-1 on the season.  Talkington threw five and one third innings allowing five hits and five runs (two earned runs).  Adam Zuk earned the save throwing the final three innings allowing no runs on two hits while striking out six.
         Nick Figus was 4-5 for the Titans with a homerun and three RBIs.  Jake Stewart had two hits in the losing cause.
         Millikin is now 19-15, 8-12 while Illinois Wesleyan goes to 20-14, 13-7.  The wins were the first time Millikin has swept a doubleheader against the Titans since 2006.
         Millikin is scheduled to host North Central College on Sunday, April 30 at 1 p.m.
