Millikin Splits with Pioneers

          The Millikin baseball team closed out the conference portion of its season splitting a doubleheader with Carroll University on May 6 at Sunnyside Park in Decatur, Illinois.  Carroll won game one 10-7 with Millikin rallying to win game two 10-5.
          Jake Drada and Julian Gutierrez led the Big Blue attack in game one.  Drada went 2-4 with a homerun, two runs scored and four RBIs. Gutierrez was 2-5 including a homerun and a double with two RBIs and two runs scored.  Devin Crews and Keith Askins each had two hits for the Big Blue.
          Hunter Frey and Zach Meyer each had three hits for the Pioneers in game one.
          Jake Stanton was 2-4 with three RBIs for the Big Blue in game two.  Senior Bobby Neylon had a two-run homer Millikin.  Senior Andrew Huss was 2-2 with two runs scored and an RBI.  Drada and Gutierrez stayed hot each going 2-4 with two runs scored.
          Freshman Ben Williamson got the win for Millikin throwing seven innings allowing seven hits and three earned runs will striking out six.  Senior Ben Peters pitched a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts.
          Frey homered for the Pioneers and Jacob Langford went 2-4 with a homerun. 
          Millikin is now 22-16, 11-13 and will host #20 Washington University-St. Louis on Sunday, May 7 at 12 p.m. to close out the 2017 season.
          Carroll ends its year at 13-27, 8-17.
