Millikin Volleyball Starts Season in Impressive Fashion

                The 17th ranked Millikin volleyball team opened the season in impressive fashion knocking off the seventh ranked team and a 2016 Sweet 16 qualifier at the Pacific Coast Classic in Claremont, California on Sept. 1.
                In its opening match, Millikin defeated the College at Brockport 3-0.  Brockport joined Millikin in the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 last season.  Millikin won 25-0, 25-15, 25-19).
                Erin Syversen and Emily Seegmiller each had 13 kills for the Big Blue.  Emily Mihalkanin had 18 assists followed by Rose Syversen with 15.  Erin Syversen had eight service aces for Millikin.
                In the second match, the Big Blue downed seventh ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripts on its home floor 3-1 (27-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18).  Erin Syversen again led the way for Millikin with 17 kills, 13 digs and four service aces.  Seegmiller had 12 kills and 15 digs.  Senior Alora Goodey added 12 kills.  Freshman Maddie Holland had seven blocks.  Artime recorded 17 digs and Mihalkanin had 27 set assists.
                The action continues on Saturday when the action shifts to Pomona-Pitzer University.
