Big Blue Men Fall at #24 Illinois Wesleyan

           The Millikin men's basketball team lost at #24 and College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) leader Illinois Wesleyan 78-62 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois and January 17. 
          The start of the game was delayed by 30 minutes to replace a rim broken during warmups.
          The game featured a tight first half with each team pulling out to six point leads.
The Big Blue went to the locker room up 37-35 at halftime.  The Titans pulled away early in the second half, but the Big Blue stayed close for the first 10 minutes. Illinois Wesleyan led 50-47 with 11:55 left in the game before going on an 8-0 run to start to pull away.  The Titans led 58-47 with 9:37 remaining.
          Illinois Wesleyan shot 50 percent from the field while Millikin hit on 42 percent.  The Titans had a big advantage from beyond the arc making 10-24 (42 percent) while Millikin went 4-27 (23.5 percent).  Millikin won the rebounding battle 35-27, but were hurt by 20 turnovers.  Illinois Wesleyan had 12 turnovers.
          Millikin had four players scoring in double figures lead by Zach Fisher with 14.  Elijah Henry and Michael Beaty each had 12 and DaVante Harrell added 10.  Henry had a team high eight rebounds.
          Brady Rose led Illinois Wesleyan with 30 points on 11-15 shooting including 6-10 from three-point range.
          Millikin falls to 8-8, 1-6 while the Titans improve to 13-3, 6-1.
          Millikin will host Carthage College on Saturday, January 17 at 7 p.m.
