Millikin Swimming Returns to Competition

        The Millikin swimmers headed back into competition after a break for winter training in a double dual meet at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois on January 26.
        The Millikin men lost to Illinois Wesleyan 122-40 and just missed an upset against North Central with a final score of 79-76.
        Fielding just three men for this meet, the Millikin men won eight of nine individual events. In competition against North Central, freshman Nick Hoerr won the 200 free and 100 free and took second in the 200 IM, sophomore Cole Jones won the 50 free, 100 back (lifetime best) and 100 breast, and junior Cameron Lee won the 1000 free (lifetime best), the 100 fly, and the 500 free. Hoerr was also the overall winner of the 200 free.
         The women also swam strong against fierce competition losing to Illinois Wesleyan 143-60 and to North Central 132-58. Against North Central, junior Caroline Lodovisi won the 200 freestyle and 100 fly, sophomore Alena Hinch finished second in the 50 free and 100 fly, freshman Millie Gegg took second in the 100 free, and senior Felicity Speirs finished second in the 1000 free and 2nd in the 500 free. Lodovisi was the overall winner of the 100 fly.
            Big Blue swimming returns to action tomorrow attending the Principia Invite in Elsah, IL.
