The Millikin women's basketball team lost to Greenville University 93-86 in overtime at the IC Tipoff Classic at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois on November 16.
Millikin lead 45-43 at halftime, but Greenville took the advantage at the end of the third quarter 60-55. The Big Blue battled back and tied the game at 75-75 with on a three-pointer by
Aubrey Magro left in the game. Greenville pushed ahead by three on a three-point play by Wesley Woodward on its next possession. Millikin trailed by two in the closing seconds before
Jordan Hildebrand tied the game at 79-79 with a rebound and basket with six tenths of a second remaining in regulation.
Millikin played the overtime without two starters who fouled out and the Panthers pulled away outscoring the Big Blue 14-7 in the extra period.
Millikin shot 39.5 percent from the field while Greenville hit on 58.5 percent of its shots with the Big Blue putting up 16 more shots than the Panthers. Millikin forced the Panthers into 25 turnovers while committing 15. Greenville won the rebounding battle
44-38.
Freshman
Aubrey Staton led Millikin in scoring and rebounding with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Yanni Saddler had 17 points while
Jazmin Brown added 13 and Brianna Anthony scored 12.
Woodard led Greenville with 20 points followed by Jantzen Michael with 19.
The Big Blue will face Westminster College on Saturday at 12 p.m.
