Millikin Women Edged by Washington University

         The Millikin women's basketball team lost at national powerhouse Washington University-St. Louis 70-61 on November 28.
         Millikin started off strong building a 12-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was all Washington University-St. Louis who outscored Millikin by 17 propelling the Bears to a 35-22 lead at halftime.  The Bears led 55-39 at the end of three quarters before Millikin began to battle back outscoring Washington University by six in the final quarter.
         Washington University-St. Louis shot 48 percent from the field and went 5-16 from three-point range. The Bears 11-13 from the free throw line. Millikin shot only 38 percent from the field and went 6-18 from three-point range. The Big Blue left points at the free throw line making only 13-22 (59 percent). Washington University-St. Louis won the rebounding battle 38-35. Millikin forced the Bears into 24 turnovers will committing 20.
         Yanni Saddler led Millikin with 23 points followed by sophomore Aubrey Magro with a career high 16 points. Aubrey Staton had eight points and six rebounds and Jordan Hildebrand had seven points and eight rebounds.
         Madeline Homoly led Washington University-St. Louis with 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
         Millikin is now 1-5 while Washington University-Louis improves to 3-2.
