Big Blue Men’s Basketball Downs Pioneers

         The Millikin men's basketball team picked up an important College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) road win 77-75 at Carroll University on December 8 in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
         Millikin lead 42-40 at halftime and maintained the two point margin with each teams scoring 35 points in the second half. Carroll pulled ahead in the second half, but Millikin took the lead for good on a Zach Fisher three-pointer to make it 58-57 with 8:26 remaining. The Big Blue then scored seven straight points getting a layup from Elijah Henry, a dunk from Calvin Fisher and another Zach Fisher three to go up 65-57.  The Pioneers then battled back and pulled to within one with under three minutes left in the game. The game would stay tight down the stretch with Zach Fisher hitting two free throws with eight seconds remaining to secure the win.
         The Big Blue hit 55 percent from the field including going 10-20 (50 percent) from three-point range. Millikin hit only 13-20 (65 percent) from the free throw line. Carroll hit 55 percent from the field going 7-17 (41 percent) from beyond the arc. Carroll hit 16-23 from the free throw line. The Pioneers won rebounding battle 28-24.
         Henry led Millikin with 21 points and six rebounds. Zach Fisher finished with 18 points on 6-10 shooting including going 4-7 from three-point range. DaVante Harrell had 17 points and four assists. Calvin Fisher had 11 points, four rebounds and three assists.
         Troy Howat led Carroll with 22 points followed by Charlie Soule with 18 points and seven rebounds.
         Millikin is now 5-3, 1-2 while Carroll goes to 2-6, 0-3.
         The Big Blue host Augustana College on December 15 at 4 p.m.
