Millikin Women Fall at Carroll

         The Millikin women's basketball team lost 70-67 at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin on December 8.
         Millikin had a 37-32 lead at halftime and were up 51-47 at the end of the third quarter. Carroll rallied in the fourth quarter making 50 percent of its shots including making 3-6 from three point range. The Pioneers we 67-62 with 23 seconds remaining when Millikin's Yanni Saddler hit a three-pointer to pull the Big Blue to within two at 67-65 with 16 seconds left in the game. Carroll hit 3-4 from the free throw line in the final seconds to secure the victory.
         Millikin shot 36 percent from the field including going 9-29 (31 percent) from three point range. The Big Blue left points at the free throw line making only 6-13 (46 percent). Carroll shot 44 percent from the field and went 6-15 (40 percent) from three-point range. The Pioneers were 8-12 from the free throw line. Carroll won the rebounding battle 47-42.
         Freshman Aubrey Staton led Millikin with 22 points and five rebounds. Sophomore Jordan Hildebrand scored 17 points and pulled down seven rounds. Saddler added 13 points and seven assists. EC Thies scored 10 points.
         Carroll had four players score in double figures led by Alyssa Cruz with 14 and Theresa Wichser with 12. Wichsher hit two three-pointers early in the fourth quarter to spark the Pioneers.
         Millikin is now 2-7, 1-2 while Carroll improves to 4-5, 1-1.
         The Big Blue host Augustana College on December 15 at 2 p.m.
