Millikin Men Fall to #14 Augustana

          The Millikin men's basketball lost to #14 Augustana College 83-74 at the Griswold Center on February 10 in Decatur, Illinois.
          Millikin lead the Vikings 42-39 at halftime.  Augustana opened the second half with a 14-4 run to take the lead at 53-46 five minutes into the second half.  The game was a tight one over the next 10 minutes with both teams holding a lead and no one able to pull away by more than six points.  At three-point play by the Vikings' Chrishawn Orange gave the Augustana a 75-66 lead with 3:44 remaining.  Millikin's Zach Fisher answered with a three-point basket to pull the Big Blue to within six points.  After the team's traded baskets, it was a 77-71 Augustana lead heading into the final two minutes.  A three-pointer by Nolan Abel with 1:05 left put the game away for the Vikings.
          Millikin shot 53 percent (28-54) from the field and went 6-19 (32 percent) from three-point range.  Augustana hit on 53 percent (29-55) of its shots and made 7-14 (50 percent) from three-point range.  The Vikings had a slight edge at the free throw line making 18-23 while Millikin made 12-16.  Millikin edged Augustana in rebounds 29-28.
          Elijah Henry led Millikin with 26 points, seven rebounds and four assists.  Michael Beaty added 15 points and Zach Fisher scored 14. 
          The Vikings had five players score in double figures lead by Ebel with 19, Brett Benning with 18 and Orange with 17.
          Millikin is now 11-12, 4-10 on the season while the Vikings improve to 18-5, 10-4.
          Millikin hosts it final home game of the year on Wednesday, February 14 against #16 Illinois Wesleyan at 7 p.m.
