Big Blue Softball Drops Two

         The Millikin (5-3) softball team lost to #7 Amherst College and Delaware Valley State on March 11 at the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.
         Millikin lost to Amherst 6-3.  The Big Blue were limited to four hits in the game by Amherst pitcher Gina Pagan.  Pagan struck out five Millikin hitters.
         Freshman Hannah Watts had a two-run pinch hit single for Millikin in the seventh.  Kalli Farmer had a triple of the Big Blue.
         Alyson Plaman led the Amherst attack going 2-3 with a double and triple with two RBI.
         It was the season opener for Amherst.
         Millikin lost its second game to Delaware Valley State (2-2).
         The Big Blue bats were again stalled against some strong pitching.  Jamie Stefani pitched seven innings for Delaware Valley holding Millikin to four hits while striking out 11.  Stefani was 2-3 at the plate with an RBI.  Kayla Kellar went 2-3 with two RBI for Delaware Valley State.
         Alyssa White had Millikin's lone run batted in on a sacrifice fly.  White also tripled in the game.  Alyssa Voegele had a double for Millikin.
         Millikin returns to action on Tuesday.
