Millikin Closes Out Florida Trip with Two Wins

         The Millikin University softball team won the final two games of its 12 game trip to the Spring Games in Florida.  The two wins on March 16 gave the Big Blue three straight wins to close out the trip.
         Millikin won its opening game 6-1 over Lake Forest.  Gracie Brookens pitched a stellar game for the Big Blue earning the win after throwing seven innings allowing only four hits and one run with one strikeout. Brookens was backed by a solid defensive effort with the Big Blue turning four double plays in the game.
         Millikin broke a scoreless tie with a single run in the fifth followed by a five run sixth inning.  Lake Forest scored its only run in the seventh inning.  Kalli Farmer had Millikin's RBI in the fifth and the sixth inning outburst was highlighted by a two-run double from Alyssa VoegeleTaylor Jordan was 2-4 for Millikin with an RBI.  Voegele finished 1-2 with two walks and two RBI.      
         Lake Forest falls to 9-3 on the season.
         Millikin won the nightcap 5-2 over Stockton.  Millikin trailed 2-0 in the fourth when the Big Blue broke through with four runs.  A two-run single from Alexis Dockins fueled the inning.  Millikin added an insurance run in the sixth on a run scoring single from Jordan.  Jordan was 2-2 on the game with two RBI.  Kailey Lyons was 2-3 and Maggie Comerford was 2-3 with a double.
         Cathy Lebryk was the winning pitcher for Millikin going all seven innings allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out four.
         Millikin is now 9-5 on the season while Stockton goes to 7-5.
