Millikin Softball Opens Florida Trip with Two Wins

          The Millikin softball team won two games to start its road trip to Florida at the Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. on March 9.  The Big Blue are now 4-0 on the season.
          In its opening game, Millikin defeated Concordia-Chicago 8-5.  Millikin scored three runs in the first inning to go up 3-1.  After Concordia tied the game at 3-3, the Big Blue scored five runs in the bottom of the third to take control of the game.
          Maggie Comerford went 2-4 for Millikin with two runs scored. Comerford opened both of Millikin's run scoring innings with singles.  Kalli Farmer was 3-4 with an RBI double.  Chelsea Eads and Alyssa Voegele each went 2-4 and drove home a run.
          Gracie Brookens was the winning pitcher in relief throwing four and two-thirds innings.
          Millikin won game two 9-3 over Wartburg.  Millikin got on the board early with a first inning three-run home run from Voegele.  Alexis Dockins hit her first home run of the season to open the Millikin second.  The Big Blue put the game out of reach with a four run fourth inning.  Comerford had a two-run single in the inning and Dockins and Voegele added to their RBI totals with run scoring hits.
          Madyson Stallcup was the winning pitcher throwing four innings and allowing three runs and five hits.  Cathy Lebryk pitched the final three innings to earn the save.  She allowed no runs on three hits while striking out four.
          Liz Roby Miklus went 3-4 for Wartburg.  Sara Martin added a home run.
          Millikin will be back in action with two more games on Saturday.
