Millikin Baseball Downs Wheaton

         The Millikin baseball team defeated Wheaton College 14-4 in eight innings on April 11 at Sunnyside Park in Decatur.
         Millikin jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.  Devin Crews opened the inning with a double and scored on Jon Walters two-run homer run. Millikin added three more runs in the third.  Crews leadoff the inning with a home run.
The Big Blue had a five run fourth and finished off the game with a four run eighth inning.
         Crews was 3-5 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored. Luke Azzarelli went 3-6 with two home runs and two RBI.  Walters was 2-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Anthony Bryan went 2-4 with three RBI.  Jake Drada, Mason Bruce, Andrew Auton and Seth Coffey each had two hits for the Big Blue.
         Junior transfer Derek Kortemeier had his best outing in a Big Blue uniform throwing six and two-thirds innings allowing six hits and four unearned runs while striking out four.  Kortemeier held the Thunder hitless until the fifth inning.
         Clay Morrison had two RBI for Wheaton.
         Millikin improves to 13-12, 3-8 while Wheaton goes to 13-11, 4-5.
