Big Blue Softball Sweeps Chicago

         The Millikin softball team swept a doubleheader from the University of Chicago on April 17 at the Workman Family Softball Field in Decatur, Illinois.
Millikin won game one 5-2 and took the second game 6-3.
         Senior catcher Alyssa Voegele had a big day at the plate for the Big Blue.  She went 2-3 with a home run and three RBI in game one.  Freshman Kailey Pulec went 2-3.  Chelsea Eads and Cassidy Knoerzer each picked up an RBI.
Cathy Lebryk was the winning pitcher throwing seven innings allowing 6 hits and two earned runs.
         Voegele was 3-3 with a double and an RBI in game two for Millikin.  Jordan Hildebrand had a bases clearing double for Millikin in the fifth.  Brooke Heimerl was 3-3 with a double and a run batted in.  Gracie Brookens pitched six innings allowing six hits to pick up the win.
         Mary Garvey went 3-3 for the University of Chicago in game two.
         Millikin improves to 16-10 on the season.  The Big Blue ran its regular season winning streak at Workman Family Field to 22 straight games without a loss.  The University of Chicago falls to 14-10.
         Millikin's scheduled doubleheader with Greenville College on April 18 has been canceled at the Panthers request.  The Big Blue returns to action on April 21 hosting Carthage College.
