Millikin Softball Splits on Senior Day

The Millikin softball team split a conference doubleheader against North Park University on April 28 at the Workman Family Softball Field in Decatur, Illinois.  Millikin won game one 5-4 and lost game two 3-2.  The games started two hours late due to transportation issues for the Vikings.
Millikin celebrated the careers of six seniors on the day with Devin Curry, Lexi Dockins, Chelsea Eads, Brooke Heimerl, Cathy Lebryk and Alyssa Voegele making their last home appearance for the Big Blue.
In game one, Millikin trailed 1-0 in the second when the Big Blue answered with two runs.  Dockins had a bunt base hit to drive in a run and Kalli Farmer picked up an RBI on a bases loaded hit-by-pitch.
North Park answered with three runs in the third to take a 4-2 lead.
The Big Blue pulled to within one in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Farmer.  Millikin scored the game winner in walk-off fashion in the seventh on a pinch-hit two-run single from freshman Kailey Pulec
Farmer was 2-3 in game one for Millikin with two RBI. Lebryk was the winning pitcher throwing seven innings allowing three earned runs.
It was North Park's turn to win in walk-off fashion in game two. With the Vikings serving as the home team per conference rules, Amara Leith delivered a two-out two-run single to give North Park a 3-2 victory.  Leith had two hits in each game for the Vikings.
Devin Curry had a run scoring single and Taylor Jordan had an RBI groundout to account for Millikin's two runs.
Millikin is now 20-14, 7-9 while North Park goes to 12-26, 4-12.
The Big Blue close out the season with a make-up date at Illinois College on May 1.
