The Millikin baseball team lost a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) doubleheader to Elmhurst College on April 7 at Sunnyside Park in Decatur, Illinois.
On a cold afternoon with temperatures in the 30's the Millikin offense could never get on track losing 6-1 and 11-0 (8).
In game one, Elmhurst Nick Drago held the Big Blue to six hits and one unearned run over eight innings while striking out seven. Jacob McMillan led the Bluejays offense going 3-4 with a double and an RBI.
Freshman
Brent Beals was the only Millikin player with more than one hit going 2-3.
In game two, Millikin managed only four hits. Elmhurst broke open a close game with a seven run eighth inning.
Beals stayed hot for the Big Blue collecting two hits including a double.
Nathan Tovell got the win for Elmhurst throwing eight innings and striking out nine. Matt Wilson was 3-5 with two home runs. McMillian also homered for the Bluejays.
Millikin falls to 11-10, 1-6 while Elmhurst improves to 14-7, 5-3.
The teams will conclude the three game series on Sunday, April 8 at 12 p.m. at Sunnyside Park.
