Big Blue Baseball Defeats Elmhurst

          The Millikin baseball team picked up a conference win defeating Elmhurst College 11-6 on a cold afternoon at Sunnyside Park in Decatur, Illinois.
          Trailing 1-0, Millikin scored six times in the second inning to take control of the game.  Anthony Bryan had big day for Millikin going 3-3 including a home run with four RBI and two runs scored.  Mason Bruce was 2-2 with three walks and two runs batted in.  Jon Walters was 2-5 with an RBI and Luke Azzarelli was 2-4 with an RBI.  Brent Beals and Andrew Auton each drove home a run.
          Freshman Michael Staszcuk was the winning pitcher in relief throwing one and two-thirds innings allowing two hits and striking out two.  Staszcuk got the Big Blue out of a fourth inning jam limiting an Elmhurst rally.  Jack Morgan got the Big Blue out a major jam in the eighth inning.  Morgan entered the game with the bases loaded with one out.  After walking the first batter he faced, he struck out two straight batters to end the inning.  Morgan allowed one hit over one and two-thirds innings with three strikeouts.
          Trey Compton and Jacob McMillian each had three hits for Elmhurst.  McMillian had three RBI.
          Millikin is now 12-10, 2-6 while Elmhurst falls to 14-8, 5-4.
          The Big Blue have a makeup game scheduled for Monday, April 9 at 5 p.m. against Wheaton College at Sunnyside Park weather permitting.
