The Millikin Women's Soccer team opened the 2018 season with a defeat at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater by a score of 1-0.

The first shot of the season came by
Lucy Koger, who fired in the 15Â minute for the Big Blue. Millikin outshot the Warhawks 11-9 with four shots being on goal for both teams.

The difference maker for Wisconsin-Whitewater came in the 41Â minute on a penalty kick goal by Jenel Karow, who was able to sneak a shot past Millikin goaltender,
Jennifer Miller. Miller finished the game with three saves.

In the 86th minute, a Big Blue attack led to a header attempt by
Maddi Pabst that was saved by goaltender, Nina Yonan for Wisconsin-Whitewater. That was the last shot attempt of the night for the Big Blue, who were unable to get on the board.

The Big Blue fall to 0-1, while Wisconsin-Whitewater improves to 1-0 on the young season. The Millikin women will be back in action at 12 p.m. on Sunday, September 2Â against Hanover College at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Ill.
