The first home game of the Millikin volleyball season was an exciting one. In a back and forth match, the Big Blue ultimately secured their first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin victory over the Augustana Vikings.

The Big Blue dropped the first set 13-25 before winning both the second and third sets, 25-20 and 25-19. The Vikings stole the fourth game by a score of 23-25. The fifth set was all Millikin, and the Big Blue dominated en route to a 15-6 victory.

A packed Griswold Center witnessed a total of 41 service errors, 27 of which were committed by the Big Blue. But, Millikin was able to turn it around and put themselves in the win column in their first conference matchup of the 2018 season.

Gabrielle Coulthard, Marissa McElroy, and Emily Seegmiller each tallied 12 kills for the Big Blue. Leading Millikin in both assists and digs was Rose Syversen with 35 assists and 10 digs. Skylar Harris served her way to three aces for the Big Blue.

Millikin improved to 4-3 on the season with the win over Augustana, and 1-0 in CCIW play. The Vikings fell to 5-4, and 0-1 in conference. The Big Blue will be back in action on Friday September 14, as they travel to DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. They will match up against Transylvania University and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Friday night.
