Millikin Volleyball Wins Both on Second Day of DePauw Invitational

The Millikin University women's volleyball took to the court for day two of the DePauw Tigers Invitational in Greencastle, Indiana in hopes of bouncing back from going 0-2 on day one.

In their first match of the day, the Big Blue took on the Quakers of Earlham College. Millikin was dominant in the first two sets before the Quakers took game three to 30 points (25-17, 25-16, 30-28). Nonetheless, the first match victory set the tone for the day.

Junior middle Marissa McElroy was the team's kills leader with 11, while freshman outside hitter Lauren Brummel chipped in ten. Junior setter Rose Syversen added 30 assists to her season total, and junior Kelsey McAtee notched 13 digs.

To finish their tournament, the Big Blue matched up against the Cougars of Concordia Chicago. Millikin defeated the Cougars by a score of 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 19-25, 25-15).

McElroy was once again Millikin's leader in kills with a career high 17, and senior outside hitter Emily Seegmiller added 13. Syversen again led the team in assists with 35, and Alyssa Vignos tallied 16 digs. McAtee contributed 15 digs in the second match of the day.

Seegmiller was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Big Blue went a combined 2-2 while in Greencastle for the DePauw Tigers Invitational, improving to 6-5 overall on the season. On September 18, they will line up across the net from the Lady Reds of Carthage College in their second College Conference of Illinois matchup of the year.
