The Millikin women's volleyball team took a tough loss against the Carthage Lady Reds in their second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matchup of the 2018 season. Millikin fought tough, but Carthage managed to take the Big Blue in three (21-25, 19-25, 22-25).

The Big Blue were led by senior Emily Seegmiller and junior Marissa McElroy with ten kills apiece. Freshman Peyton Jackson provided a spark with her arm, tallying eight kills in the two games she appeared in. Rose Syversen added 29 assists to her season total, and Alyssa Vignos was Millikin's digs leader with 21.

Carthage's attack was led by outside hitter Megan Behrendt, who notched ten kills against the Big Blue. In addition, setter Ellie LeCount caught Millikin off guard for four service aces.

With the loss, the Big Blue fell to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in CCIW play.

Millikin will take to the court again on Friday September 21 in Bloomington, Illinois for the Holiday Inn Express Classic. They begin the tournament against Williams College before matching up against Texas Lutheran University and Trinity University (Texas) on day two of the tournament.
