Big Blue Men’s Basketball Loses at Bluejays

         The Millikin men's basketball team lost at Elmhurst College 74-67 on January 26 in Elmhurst, Illinois.
         Elmhurst scored the opening basket and the Big Blue tied the game at 2-2, but Elmhurst went ahead 4-2 and would never trail in the game. The Bluejays lead 35-30 at halftime.
         Both teams shot 48 percent from the field, but the Bluejays made two more baskets from the field. Millikin shot 7-18 (39 percent) from three-point range while Elmhurst hit on 8-24 (33 percent) from beyond the arc. Millikin won the rebounding battle 37-25, but the Big Blue were hurt by 20 turnovers.
         Elijah Henry led Millikin with 19 points and six rebounds. Calvin Fisher added 12 points followed by Jack Marinko with 11. Jordan Cunningham had a team high 11 rebounds along with four points.
         Ryan Patton led Elmhurst with 14 points followed by Jake Rhode with 13. Jeremy Ireland scored 12 points and had nine rebounds.
         Millikin is now 10-9, 4-7 while Elmhurst improves to 10-9, 5-5.
         The Big Blue will play at Illinois Wesleyan on January 30 at 7 p.m.
