Millikin Women’s Finish Day Two of CCIW Championships

        The Millikin women's tennis team posted stayed alive in day two of the 2019 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Tennis Championships being played at the Centre Court Athletic Club in Hanover Park, Illinois October 17-19.
        After posting upset wins on day one, freshman Brianna Barconi and junior Danielle Beard played semifinal matches on Friday.
        In three singles, Barconi lost her semifinal match 6-3, 6-2 and was then eliminated 8-3 in the play back round.
        Beard lost her semifinal 6-1, 6-1. Beard then posted an 8-4 win over Linsy Jante of North Central to advance to the third place match. It was Beard's second victory on Jante in the tournament.
        In the number one singles bracket, Morgan Bettner won her play back opening round match 8-4 before being eliminated 8-1.
        Katie Cooper and Alena Hinch both posted play back round wins 8-6 before being eliminated from the tournament.
        In doubles action, all three Millikin teams posted play back round wins to remain alive. Bettner and Shelby Jones won 8-6 in one doubles. Barconi and Beard won at two doubles 8-1 and Cooper and Hinch won at three doubles 8-4. All three duos will play in third place matches on Saturday.
