Women's Volleyball Edges UW - Oshkosh in Five Set Match

UW - Oshkosh Ranked #7 in Midwest Region

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Millikin Women's Volleyball was on the road Friday night to compete in the Holiday Inn Classic hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University. In the first day of the tournament the Big Blue faced University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh beating the Titans with a final score of 3-2 to improve to 17-10 on the year.
 
In the first set of the night's back and forth match, the Big Blue would beat UW - Oshkosh 25-19, never trailing the Titans in the set. Set two saw the Titans come back with a win of their own, coming back from a five point differential to beat the Big Blue 26-24. In set three of the evening, Millikin would take a 2-1 lead in the match, beating UW - Oshkosh 25-18, the largest point differential of the night. The match would be tied 2-2 in the fourth set, as the Titans would take a win from the Big Blue, winning 25-21, forcing the match into a fifth set. Millikin would go on to win the fifth set 15-8, going on three three-point scoring runs. 

Millikin's Lauren Brummel lead the match with a season-high 22 kills, while senior setter Rose Syversen posted season-highs in kills with 12, assists with 54, and digs with 18 on the night. Leading the match in digs, however, was UW - Oshkosh's Rachel Gardner, who recorded 26 of her own. UW - Oshkosh's Taylor Allen held down the defense, putting up a match-high 10 blocks for the Titans. 

The Big Blue continue their weekend in Bloomington where they will face University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire at 10:00 AM and University of Wisconsin - Platteville at 12:30 PM on Saturday.
