DECATUR, Ill. - Women's Tennis faced the Wheaton College Thunder Friday evening at Fairview Park Tennis Complex. Wheaton would top the Big Blue 9-0, bringing Millikin to 4-6 on the season and 2-3 in CCIW play.
Doubles partners
Morgan Bettner and
Shelby Jones would square off against Wheaton's Claire Browning and Abygale Ahn and would lose 8-1. In #2 doubles,
Danielle Beard and
Brianna Barconi faced Claire Dibble and Nicole Freeman, but would fall 8-3. In the #3 doubles spot,
Katie Cooper and
Alena Hinch went up against Emme Lindquist and Bethany Hoogerheide, and record an 8-1 loss.Â
In singles play, Millikin #1
Morgan Bettner was matched up against Wheaton's Claire Browning. Browning would win both sets with scores of 6-2, 6-1.
Shelby Jones faced Emme Lindquist, and would be shut out 6-0, 6-0.
Brianna Barconi went up against Claire Dibble, and would fall 6-2, 6-1.
Danielle Beard was Millikin's #4 and faced Nicole Freeman, but would be topped 6-2, 6-1.
Katie Cooper and Abygale Ahn would play in the #5 spot where Ahn would win with final scores of 6-1, 6-0. In the final singles matchup of the evening, senior
Alena Hinch faced Bethany Hoogerheide and would lost 6-1, 6-4.Â
Millikin is back at Fairview Park Tennis Complex Saturday morning at 10:00 AM where they will face Elmhurst College for a CCIW conference matchup.Â
