DECATUR, Ill. - It was Senior Day at the Griswold Center Saturday as Millikin University hosted Alma College and Simpson College in a triangular match. The Big Blue would win both matches against Alma and Simpson, improving their record to 9-8 on the season.
In the first match of the afternoon, Millikin would face the Simpson College Storm, who entered the match 8-11 on the year. Millikin would win the match in three sets, with final scores of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-18. In the second set against Simpson, the Big Blue would go on a nine-point scoring run, with help coming from Senior
Kelsey McAtee, who recorded a game-high four aces in the match. Senior
Rose Syversen led the match with 34 assists, while Senior
Marissa McElroy led the match in kills, recording 12.
In the second match, the Big Blue would meet the Scots from Alma College. Like the Simpson match, Millikin would end the match in three sets, with final scores of 25-15, 25-21, 25-18. Seniors
Skylar Harris and
Kelsey McAtee highlighted their service talents, with Harris posting 3 in the match, while McAtee had a season-high five aces.
Lauren Brummel saw significant playing time against Alma and had a season-high 13 kills.
The Big Blue will be at home on Tuesday, October 8 at 7:00 PM as they host Wheaton College in a CCIW matchup at the Griswold Center.
