GAME NOTES
Optimism is running high as the Millikin women's basketball team opens the 2019-20 season.  Second year Head Women's Basketball Coach Olivia Lett believes brighter days are ahead for the program after bringing in a deep talented class in her first full year of recruiting.
Lett laid the groundwork for the Big Blue's rebuilding program last season as her team played with heart and passion and was competitive throughout the season.  The Big Blue will once again be young with a roster featuring only one senior and 10 freshmen.  The five returners all saw extensive playing time last season gaining valuable experience.  Junior two-year starter Jordan Hildebrand (Mendon, Mendon Unity H.S.) heads up the returning group.  She earned All-Conference Second Team honors last season averaging 13 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last season.  Sophomore Aubrey Staton (El Paso, El Paso Gridley H.S.) burst onto the season last year averaging 15 points and five rebounds per game.  Junior Aubrey Magro (Rochester, H.S.) and sophomore Jazmin Brown (Indianapolis, Ind., Lawrence North H.S.) are expected to start in the backcourt as they open the season.
A number of freshman are expected to make immediate impact for the Big Blue this season.  Six-one freshman forward Abby Ratsch (Springfield, H.S.) is expected to round out the Millikin starting lineup.  Bailey Coffman (Heyworth, Bloomington Central Catholic H.S.), a 6-0 forward, and guard Miranda Fox (Effingham, H.S.) are expected to see significant minutes off the bench.
In 2013-14, Millikin began facing Greenville and Westminster in tournament action early in the season.  In that initial season, the Big Blue swept the pair of games.  One early goal Lett has established for the Big Blue is to win both those games this season a feat Millikin has not accomplished in the last five years.
Lett his hoping a strong start to the season can help propel her young team on a winning track and build confidence as they head into College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action in December.

THE SERIES:  Millikin vs. Greenville
Millikin lead the series 11-9.  Greenville won last year's meeting 93-86 in overtime.

THE SERIES:  Millikin vs. Westminster
Westminster leads the series 4-3.  The Bluejays have won two straight in the series including 68-51 last season.
