DECATUR, Ill. - Millikin Swimming hosted the Carroll University Pioneers at the Decatur Family YMCA Saturday for their home opening meet. The Big Blue would beat Carroll in both Men's and Women's competition, with the Men winning with a final score of 134-40 and the Women winning with a final score of 105-100.
In the first event of the day, the 400 Yard Medley Relay, Millikin's Brigid Duesterhaus, Fiona Rosko, Olivia Marquardt and Kelli Sangston would win with a finishing time of 4:11.86, almost seven seconds ahead of Carroll's Lindsey Coons, Allie Kriegler, Emily Wong and Anina Lee.

Nick Nemeth,
Sean Griffin and
Cole Jones would win the 400 Yard Medley Relay for the Men with a final time of 3:50.65.
Millikin's Avery Fisher and Hope Roderick would finish first and second, respectively, in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with final times of 11:38.80 and 11:45.35.
Felix Archer and
David Blanco do the same on the Men's side with final times of 10:46.73 and 10:56.39, respectively.
Jacob Williams would win the 200 Yard Freestyle for the Men with a final time of 1:58.27 with
Finnian O'Neal coming in second with a time of 2:05.87.
In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Brigid Duesterhaus would record a 25.71 final time for a first place finish for the women, and
Cole Jones would finish with a final time of 22.24.
Nick Nemeth would win the 200 Yard IM for the Men with a final time of 2:15.49, beating Carroll's Michael Beckman by 4.11 seconds.
Olivia Marquardt posted a 1:00.46 100 Yard Butterfly in the Women's race to secure another win for the Big Blue.
Sean Griffin also won the 100 Yard Butterfly for the Men with a time of 58.71.
In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Brigid Duesterhaus and Kelli Sangston would take the top two spots with final times of 56.70 and 57.84, respectively, while
Cole Jones and
Jacob Williams did the same for the Men with times of 50.25 and 51.44, respectively.
The Big Blue also picked up a win in the 200 Yard Backstroke with
Felix Archer finishing with a 2:03.78 time.
Millikin would sweep the 200 Yard Breaststroke with Fiona Rosko winning for the Women and
David Blanco winning for the Men.
In the final event of the meet, Millikin would win the Men's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay as
David Blanco,
Jacob Williams, Nick Canton and
Finnian O'Neal beat Carroll's Kentarrius Braxton, Michael Beckman, DJ Barkow and Chris Fabian by 20 seconds with a final time of 3:35.94.
The Big Blue are on the road for their next meet as they compete in the University of Chicago Phoenix Fall Classic in Chicago, Illinois on November 22-24.
