Millikin Men Loses at Wheaton

         The Millikin men's basketball team lost its final road game of the season 81-73 at Wheaton College on February 13 in Wheaton, Illinois.
         The first half was a back and forth contest with seven ties and 11 lead changes. Millikin lead 43-33 at halftime.  Wheaton rallied and took control of the game early in the second period and built a 10 point lead (61-51) with 12:35 left to play. Millikin made a run in the final minutes and freshman Jack Marinko's three-pointer with 1:15 remaining pulled the Big Blue to 73-71.  Ashton Francis, NCAA Division III's leading scorer, then took over for Wheaton scoring eight straight points in the final minute of the game.
         Millikin shot 36 percent (26-72) from the field and made 8-25 (32 percent) from three-point range. The Big Blue had 11 more shots than the Thunder thanks to a 47-35 rebounding advantage including recording 22 offensive boards. The Thunder shot 44 percent (27-61) from the field and made 14-31 (45 percent) from three-point range.
         Marinko and DaVante Harrell each scored 18 points to lead Millikin.
         Francis scored 31 points along with eight rebounds and four assists to lead Wheaton.
         Millikin falls to 10-13, 4-11 while Wheaton improves to 18-7, 11-5.
         The Big Blue close out the season on Saturday, February 16 hosting North Park University at 7 p.m.
