Millikin Softball Wins Three Extending Winning Streak to Seven

         The Millikin softball post three victories at the Tucson Softball Invitational on March 15 extending its winning streak to seven straight games. The Big Blue are currently 8-2 with two more games in Arizona on Saturday.
         Millikin opened the day with 3-2 win over Dickinson College. Dickinson scored single runs in the second and third innings and held that 2-0 advantage until the bottom of the seventh. Alyssa White lead off the bottom of the seventh for the Big Blue with a single. Cassidy Knoerzer followed with a double to put runners at second and third. Kailey Lyons used a bunt single to load the bases. Bailey Gowin then tied the game with a two-run single. Taylor Jordan ended the game in walk off fashion with a single up the middle driving home the winning run.
         Jordan and Lyons had two hits in the game for Millikin. Gracie Brookens was the winning pitcher allowing five hits and two earned runs over seven innings.
         Hannah Brenner was 2-3 with a double for Dickinson.
         The Big Blue won game two 6-4 over St. Mary's College. The Big Blue trailed 3-0 before posting a five run fourth inning. Kelsey Farmer had a two-run double and Lyons added an RBI single to highlight the inning for Millikin. Lyons collected two hits in the game.
         Rachel Patting picked up the victory in relief throwing two and one-third innings allow three hits and one earned run. Freshman Aly Armstrong picked up her second save of the second throwing the final two innings giving up only one hit.
         Millikin closed out the day with a 10-2 win over Skidmore.  The Big Blue blew open the game with a nine run third inning.  Gowin opened the scoring in the inning driving home Lyons with a triple. Other highlights in the inning included a two-run single by Maggie Comerford and a two-run home run from Knoerzer. Jordan and Lyons each had two hits in the game.
         Senior Madyson Stallcup picked up the victory throwing three and one-third innings allowing one run on two hits.
