Thunder Snap Big Blue Softball Winning Streak

         The #19 Millikin softball team had its 13 game winning streak snapped by Wheaton College in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) opener on March 30 in Wheaton, Illinois. The Big Blue lost game one 12-11 in 10 innings and 9-0.
         Game one was a wild one with the Big Blue jumping out to a 2-0 in the first inning. The Thunder then tied the game with two runs in the third.
Millikin scored three in the fourth and four in the fifth. Wheaton countered with four in the fourth and five in the fifth.
         Trailing 11-9, Millikin's Maggie Comerford hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at 11-11. Maddie Craver had the game winning base hit for Wheaton in the 10th inning.
         Skielyr Trenkle went 3-4 with two RBI for Millikin. Comerford was 2-3 with three RBI.
         Craver had five hits in game one for Wheaton.
         Millikin was limited to four hits in game two by Wheaton's Maddy Whitmer. Melissa Meiners had three hits to lead the Thunder.
         Millikin is now 14-4, 0-2 while Wheaton goes to 8-10, 2-0.
         The Big Blue play at North Park on Sunday, March 31.
