Millikin Softball Sweeps North Park

         The 19th ranked Millikin softball team swept a conference doubleheader on March 31 on a cold afternoon in Chicago. Despite temperatures hovering below the freezing mark, the Big Blue offense heated up winning 7-3 and 12-3 in five innings.
         Millikin scored three runs in the first inning of game one. The Big Blue added three more in the third and one in the sixth. Bailey Gowin, Kalli Farmer and Alyssa White each had two hits for Millikin. Kalli Farmer and White each had an RBI. Kelsey Farmer went 1-3 with two RBI and Maggie Comerford and Jordan Hildebrand each doubled.
         Rachel Patting was the winning pitcher improving to 7-2 on the season. She allowed three earned runs on 10 hits while striking out four.
         Hayley Jackson was 2-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the Vikings.
         Hildebrand was the Millikin hitting star in game two going 2-3 with a grand slam and a two-run homer. Gowin was 3-4 with two runs scored. Comerford had a two-run single and a bases loaded walk for the Big Blue.
         Gracie Brookens was the winning pitcher throwing four innings allowing three earned runs on four hits.
         Kylee O'Connor had a home run for North Park.
         Millikin is now 16-4, 2-2 while North Park goes to 8-8, 0-2.
         The Big Blue return to action on April 6 hosting Augustana College at 1 p.m.
