Baseball Falls to North Central

The Millikin baseball team dropped their game against North Central College 12-6 on April 10 at Sunnyside Park in Decatur.

North Central took advantage of 13 Big Blue walks and used 12 hits to score their 12 runs. Millikin battled throughout the game but was ultimately unable to overcome the early deficit.

With the game at a 2-1 advantage for North Central, the Cardinals expanded the lead with four more runs in the top of the third inning to make it 6-1. Center fielder Jeremy Quade had both of his hits in the first three innings on RBI singles. He finished at 2-4 on the day with three RBI. The designated hitter for the Cardinals, Ryan Scott led the way with a 3-5, two-RBI game. Millikin responded with a four run inning of their own in the bottom of the third to make it 6-5, thanks in part to a three run homerun by Mason Bruce that sailed well over the right field fence. Kyle Kane was 2-4 on the day with two runs scored. Frank Bryan contributed two more hits and was 2-5.

Millikin falls to 10-12 and 5-5 in CCIW play, while North Central improves to 15-7 and 5-3 in conference play. Millikin is back in action again on April 12 at Sunnyside Park in Decatur against Carroll University for a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin series.
