Millikin Softball Splits with Illinois College

         The Millikin softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Illinois College on April 24 at the Workman Family Softball Field in Decatur, Illinois.  The Lady Blues won game one 4-1 while Millikin rallied to win game two 6-2.
         Illinois College broke open a 1-1 game with a three run fifth inning in game one. Sam Saggerman had a two-run triple to spark the inning for the Lady Blues. Sydney Hood was the winning pitcher throwing seven innings and holding Millikin to five hits.
         Jordan Hildebrand was 2-3 for Millikin.
         Millikin opened game two with a three run first inning and scored two more in the third and one in sixth. Skielyr Trenkle had a two-run single and Alyssa White doubled home a run to get Millikin on the board in the first inning. Senior Maggie Comerford had an RBI triple in the Millikin third inning. Trenkle finished the game 2-3 with three RBI. Comerford and Kalli Farmer each had two hits for Millikin.
         Rachel Patting picked up the win for the Big Blue throwing seven innings allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out four.
         Millikin celebrated Senior Night honoring four seniors including Comerford, Taylor Jordan, Bailey Gowin and Madyson Stallcup.
         Millikin is now 23-9 while Illinois College goes to 15-13.
         Millikin will host #25 DePauw University on Thursday, April 25 in its final home appearance of the 2019 season.
