Big Blue Softball Splits with #25 DePauw

         The Millikin softball team split a doubleheader with #25 DePauw University on April 25 at the Workman Family Softball Field in Decatur, Illinois. Millikin won game one 6-5 in nine innings and lost the second game 8-0 in five innings.
         In game one, Millikin lead 5-1 after two innings. The Tigers scored one in the third, two in the fourth and tied the game at 5-5 with a single run in the fifth. Neither team would score again until the bottom of the ninth inning when Millikin's Maggie Comerford had the game winning base hit scoring Bailey Gowin.
         Comerford was 3-4 in the game with two RBI. Kalli Farmer went 3-3 with two walks and an RBI. Taylor Jordan was 2-4 for the Big Blue. Freshman Aly Armstrong was the winning pitcher in relief throwing four innings allowing three hits while striking out four.
         Kate Geary, Jade Mejia Wick and Becca St. Germain each had two hits for DePauw.
         DePauw took game two scoring four runs in the third inning and four runs in the fifth. Cami Henry limited Millikin to one hit over five innings to pick up the victory.
         Meghan Gonzalez had a three-run homer for the Tigers.
         Millikin is now 24-10 while DePauw goes to 23-11.
         Millikin is scheduled to close out the regular season with a Wisconsin swing to Carthage and Carroll this weekend. The forecast is calling for snow in Wisconsin on Saturday so the games originally scheduled for Saturday at Carroll have been moved to Monday, April 29.
