Millikin Softball Rallies for Split with Carthage

         The Millikin softball team split with Carthage College on April 28 at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois. The games originally scheduled in Kenosha were moved to Millikin due to weather conditions in Wisconsin.
The Lady Reds won game one 3-1, but the Big Blue rallied to win game two 3-2 in 10 innings.
         In game one, Carthage broke open a scoreless game with a three-run fifth inning. Alexandra Millet had a two-run double in the inning for Carthage.
         Millikin scored a run in the seventh inning with Kalli Farmer picking up the RBI single. Farmer was 3-4 in the game for the Big Blue.
         Stefanie Guerico was the winning pitcher for Carthage throwing seven innings allowing just seven hits and one unearned run while striking out five.
         Millikin opened the scoring in game two with a single run in the third inning. Bailey Gowin tripled and scored on a Farmer single. After Carthage tied the game at 1-1, Farmer drove home Taylor Jordan, who had doubled, in the fifth. Carthage tied the game in the seventh on a RBI single from
Danielle Koziczkowski.
         Millikin scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th. Farmer tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly from Maggie Comerford.
         Farmer was 4-5 in game two with two RBI. Jordan and Gowin each had two hits.
         Rachel Patting was the winning pitcher for Millikin throwing all 10 innings allowing two runs on six hits while striking out four.
         Millikin is now 25-11, 7-7 while Carthage goes to 23-11, 9-5.
         Millikin is scheduled to close out the season on April 29 at Carroll University.
