Millikin Tennis Falls in CCIW Opener

         The fourth seeded Millikin men's tennis team lost its opening round match in the College Conference of Illinois Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament to fifth seeded Carthage College 5-1 in a match played to decision.  The rainy weather forced all four first round matches to be played at the Evergreen Tennis and Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois.
         Carthage won two of the three doubles matches. Jacob Palley and Colin Sandgren gave Millikin its doubles win 8-4 at number one doubles.  Daniel Moore\Matt Krzewinski and John Nykyforuk\Fordy Leipold won their doubles matches for the Red Men.
         Carthage won the match with three singles points. The Red Men's Andre Antreassian defeated Millikin's Greg Schwoeppe 6-2 6-2 at three singles and Leipold downed Nick Laramee 6-1, 7-5. Carthage's final point came when an injury forced Millikin's Holden Owens to retire in the five singles match.
         Carthage improves to 15-9 while Millikin goes to 13-7.
         The Big Blue are scheduled to play on Friday at 8 a.m. at the Fairview Park Tennis Center.
