NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Millikin Women's Tennis was handed their first loss of the season by North Central College, who improves to 5-0 on the season, going 3-0 in CCIW matches. 

Coming off of a 9-0 win Friday night against North Park University, the Big Blue looked to continue their hot streak Saturday morning as they faced North Central College in their second CCIW matchup of the season. The Cardinals proved to be too much for the Big Blue, as they took all 9 matches to beat Millikin 9-0. 

In doubles play, Brianna Barconi and Shelby Jones faced Hannah Houghland and Alaina Kanthaphixay, and would fall 1-8. Danielle Beard and Katie Cooper were matched up against Katie McGraw and Linsy Jante, who would be defeated with a final score of 4-8. In the third doubles match of the morning, Morgan Bettner and Alena Hinch were bested by Ellie Gallagher and Tiffany Smolik by a score of 5-8. 

In singles play, Morgan Bettner would be defeated by Hannah Houghland 0-6, 2-6. Brianna Barconi faced Alaina Kanthaphixay and would fall 0-6, 0-6. Shelby Jones would be put up against Katie McGraw but would trail 3-6 and 5-7. Danielle Beard and Linsy Jante would be the only match that saw three sets be played, but Beard would be beaten with final scores of 6-7, 6-3, 8-10. Katie Cooper faced Morgan House, but would be eated 1-6 in both sets. Amber Rezinas and Ellie Gallagher would square off, but North Central's Gallagher would win both sets 0-6.

The Big Blue will be back in on September 12 as they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana to face Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
