Big Blue Women Down Vikings

         The Millikin women's basketball team picked up a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) victory defeating Augustana College 75-71 on January 12 in Decatur, Illinois.  The game was pushed by to Sunday due to winter weather in the Quad Cities on Saturday.
         Augustana led at the end of the first quarter 20-14, but Millikin rallied in the second quarter to lead 31-28 at halftime.  The Big Blue had a 48-47 advantage after three quarters.  Millikin outscored the Vikings 20-9 in the first six minutes and of the fourth quarter and led 68-56 with 3:43 remaining.  Augustana stormed back and pulled to 72-71 with 17 seconds left on back-to-back three pointers from Macy Beinborn.  Millikin went 3-4 from the free throw line in the final seconds to hold off the Vikings.  The game featured 13 lead changes and eight ties.
         Millikin shot 42 percent (26-62) from the field and went 7-24 (29 percent) from three-point range. Augustana shot 47 percent (27-57) from the field and went 6-18 (33 percent) from beyond the arc.  Millikin was 16-23 from the free throw line while the Vikings only made 11-20.  Millikin won the rebounding battle 39-38. 
         Bailey Coffman led Millikin with 14 points along with eight rebounds and three assists.  Jordan Hildebrand and Aubrey Staton each added 13 points.  Abby Ratsch had 10 points and a team high nine rebounds.
         Beinborn led the Vikings with 19 points.  Alexis Jones had 16 point and 11 rebounds.        
         Millikin is now 10-4, 3-2 while Augustana goes to 8-7, 3-3.
