Big Blue Men’s Basketball Picks Up Conference Win

         The Millikin University men's basketball team picked up a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) road victory 69-64 at North Park University in Chicago on January 8.
         Millikin trailed 36-32 at halftime, but rallied to go ahead with 11 minutes remaining in the game on a three-pointer by Jake Hampton.  The Big Blue would lead the rest of the way pushing the advantage to seven points with five minutes left to play. The Vikings pulled to 65-64 with 2:16 remaining, but Sam Stichnote put Millikin up 67-64 with 2:03 left to go.  Hampton would hit two free throws with 13 seconds left in the game to seal the victory.
         Millikin shot 45.6 percent (26-57) from the field and made 9-21 (43 percent) from three-point range.  North Park shot 45 percent (25-56) from the field and went 6-16 from long range. 
         Calvin Fisher led Millikin with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Hampton had 13 points followed by Cole Laurence with 11 and Zach Fisher with 10.  Kevin Miller came off the bench to score nine points.
         Toby Marek led North Park with 22 points.
         Millikin hosts Augustana College on January 11 at 4 p.m.
