LAKE GENEVA, Wis. - Millikin Men's Tennis opened their spring season on the road Saturday as they faced University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. The Big Blue would fall in their spring season opener 0-9 to the Warhawks.
In doubles play, seniors
Jacob Palley and
Logan Bennett would face Alex Gray and Rory Calabria. Palley and Bennett would fall 8-2 to Gray and Calabria. In the number two doubles match, freshman
Clayton Maack and sophomore
Holden Owens would be defeated by Zach Wood and Danila Bororykh 8-6. Freshmen duo
James Broach and
Cory Erickson would face Cole Lindwall and Rob Rider in the number three doubles matchup, but would be edged 8-3.
Jacob Palley would face Alex Gray for a second time on the night in the number one singles match. Gray would defeat Palley in two sets with 5-7, 6-0 final scores. In the number two singles matchup,
Clayton Maack would lose to Ryan Mitchell in two sets 7-5 and 6-1.
Holden Owens was in the number three spot in singles play and would face Cole Lindwall. Lindwall would win 8-6 and 6-0.
Logan Bennett would be matched up with Brendan Pietila, but would be edged 6-0 in both sets. In the number five singles match,
James Broach would be defeated by Noah Guillermo 6-0, 6-1.
Cory Erickson and Zach Wood were in the number six spot, where Wood would win 6-3, 6-0 over Erickson.
The Big Blue are back in action on February 15, 2020 as they face Principia College and St. Louis College of Pharmacy in Elsah, Illinois.
