AURORA, Ill. - Millikin Men's Volleyball was in Aurora, Illinois on Thursday night as they took on the Aurora University Spartans. The Big Blue would drop the match 3-0, bringing their record to 1-8 in their inaugural season.
Aurora entered the match 7-1 on the season and would hold Millikin to 16 points or less in each set of the match. In the first set of the night, the Big Blue would go on four multi-point scoring runs, but would be unable to pull out the result falling 25-14.
In the second set, Millikin would score more than two points once, with freshman
Terezz Lee recording an ace in that run. The third set saw the Big Blue gain some traction, scoring 16 points in the set with two of those points coming from services aces by
Kyle Clendenen and
Robbie Maida.
Willie Valentine led Millikin in digs on the night, posting 11 in the match, tying Aurora's David Miechowicki for most digs in the match.
Robbie Maida, Kyle Cleneden and
Terezz Lee recorded service aces for the Big Blue. On defense,
Peter Sailsman and
Kyle Clendenen held down the net recording two blocks a piece.
Millikin returns home on Saturday, February 15 as they host North Central College and St. Norbert College in a tri-match at the Griswold Center. The Big Blue will face North Central College at 3:00 PM and St. Norbert College at 7:00 PM.
