Millikin Baseball Opens Season

         The Millikin baseball team opened the 2020 season dropping a twin bill at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas on February 15.
         Millikin lost game one 8-1. The Big Blue opened the scoring with a single run in the second inning before Hendrix answered with two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and five in the sixth inning.
         Frank Bryan went 2-4 for the Big Blue with Mason McGahey driving home the Millikin run with a double.
         Ford Sherrin and Andrei Stoya each had three hits for the Warriors.
         In game two Millikin lost 8-7.  The Big Blue jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the third, before Hendrix answered with a four run fifth inning.  Millikin battled back with a single run in the sixth and two in the seventh.  The Big Blue broke open a 4-4 tie with three runs in the eighth. Joey Buhay drove in the go-ahead run with a bases loaded walk.  Brent Beals then delivered a two-run double to make it 7-4.
         Rail Gilliam's two-run single highlighted a three-run bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game for the Warriors at 7-7.
         Hendrix scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on a two-based loaded walk to Adam Bland scoring Justin Scott who opened the inning with a base-on-balls.
         Beals led the Millikin attack in game two going 2-4 with four RBI.  Andrew Auton had two hits.
         Juan Pablo Leon went 3-4 in game two for Hendrix.
         The two teams will play again on Sunday.
