ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Millikin Men's Volleyball was in Rock Island, Illinois on Saturday, February 22 as they took on Augustana College at the Carver Center. The Big Blue would fall in three sets, bringing their record to 1-12 in their first season of competition.
The first set saw the Big Blue take a 5-2 lead early in the set, but Augustana would tie the game at 9-9 before holding the lead for the remainder of the set. The Big Blue would have five multi-point scoring runs in the set but would fall 25-19.
In the second set, Millikin would find themselves behind early in the set before a three point scoring run would tie the game at 9-9. Like the first set, it was after the 9-9 tie that Augustana would push forward to take the lead to win the set 25-20.
Augustana would go into the set with a 2-0 lead on the Big Blue and would have a lead the entirety of the set, going on five mutli-point scoring runs to win the set 25-18 and end the match 3-0.
Peter Sailsman led Millikin and tied Augustana's Jason Szara and Luis Zavala for most blocks in the match with two on the day. Freshman libero
Willie Valentine led the Big Blue in digs, recording eight in the match.
On offense,
Jose Gallardo led Millikin with seven kills while
Peter Sailsman had six and
Shayden Attao posted five. Setter Robbie maida had 18 assists in the match.
The Big Blue return home on Monday, February 24 as they face Loras College at 7:30 PM at the Griswold Center.
