Big Blue Softball Wins Twice in Florida Sunshine

        The Millikin softball team won twice at the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida on March 7. The Big Blue defeated Trinity (Texas) 7-4 and Plymouth State 6-1. Millikin has won all four of its Florida games and is now 4-3 on the season.
        In the win over Trinity, Millikin jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings. Skielyr Trenkle and Kalli Farmer each had RBI singles to get the scoring going. Millikin added two runs in the fifth thanks to a run scoring triple from Grace Biondo and a sacrifice fly from Maddie Holland.
        Trinity answered with three runs in the bottom of the sixth before the Big Blue scored twice in the top of the seventh.
        Aly Armstrong was the winning pitcher for Millikin throwing six innings allow six hits and three earned runs while striking out six. Grace Brookens picked up the save thwarting a Trinity rally in the seventh inning.
        Biondo was 3-3 with three runs scored. Farmer had two hits.
        Emily Vaclavik had two hits for Trinity while Brianna Pena had two RBI.
        Millikin jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against Plymouth State. Gretchen Gould doubled home Biondo who had walked and stole second base. The Big Blue broke open the game with four runs in the sixth inning highlighted by a two-run double from Kailey Pulec. Pulec was 2-3 in the game.
        Bailey Coffman picked up her first collegiate pitching victory throwing five innings allowing five hits and one run. Addison Sargent earned her first collegiate save with two scoreless innings.
        Emily Picard had two hits for Plymouth State.
